Last week my HTC weather started showing the current conditions in Moscow even though I'm in Iowa.  Now it's spread to the clock.  It's problematic as I use my phone as my alarm clock and now it's not reliable.  I have my Location set to "use wireless network" - which has worked since June when I got my EVO - until now.

Any thoughts?

For some bizarre reason my phone keeps going to Botucatu as the local time and weather....while I am in Bakersfield, CA!  I reset/correct it, but it always ends up back there again sooner or later.  I seem to have to just play with it to even get it to reset - sometimes it takes easily - sometimes it doesn't right away.  I keep GPS turned off by default as I don't use it much, if ever.  "Location" is set to "Use Wireless Networks".

The phone is not rooted, but I do have USB Debugging ON for Tethering.

Strange.

This is a known issue...try using Beautiful Widgets for your weather app, it is much more reliable.

Thank you - I've been playing with it - I really like the look of the stock weather widget, too bad it's broken.

To make this stranger - even using a different weather widget I was still getting a 5 hour difference on the main phone time (extreme upper RH corner).  It was saying 5 hours later than the real time this AM - but the clock widget I used to replace the broken weather app widget was correct.  I installed, uninstalled, turned on GPS, turned off GPS all several times and at first got the phone time right - but then the clock widget time went off by 5 hours forward - arrrrrggh - playing with them further I finally got things lined up - but it seems that it's not just weather that's messed up - it's the time zone as well.

I couldn't say how it got fixed exactly - but it's working for now and that's good enough.  Thanks again!

Also, when using Beautiful Widgets, if you go into the settings and change the Weather Service to Google, you'll probably find its more accurate than Accuweather, oddly enough. I believe the stock app uses Accuweather (and BW might as default) and I'm convinced that's where the trouble is, but there's no way to change it in the stock app.

Also, merging this with the existing topic. Please use the search before posting, as this issue is even linked in the Common Issues/Problems thread sticked at the top of this forum. Thanks. Smiley

ANSWER!!!  ... Mine did the same thing today.  Yesterday fumbled it through my hands and tried to catch it but it eventually dropped a foot high and it landed on its lower left corner.  Today it kept showing Sao Paolo as my location (while I am thousands of miles from there).  Tried everything.  Then I figured, if it works for WINDOWS, then it may work on EVO;  complete shutdown and restart. I TURNED OFF THE EVO; REMOVED THE   BACK;  AND UNPLUGGED THE BATTERY;  PRESSED BUTTONS AND WAITED A MINUTE;  THEN PUT BATTERY BACK IN AND CLOSED BACK.  TURNED ON EVO; MENU, SETTINGS, LOCATION, AND ENSURED WF-FI AND GPS WERE ON .. OR BEST CYCLE THEM OFF AND ON.  IF THEY SHOW OPERATING.. THEN YOUR CORRECT LOCATION, DATE, TIME, AND WEATHER SHOULD NOW DISPLAY.

Thanks, but please refrain from posting in all caps. It makes it difficult to read, is against our forum rules and appears that you are screaming in our faces. Thanks. Smiley
